Innovation and Economic Performance in Mexico

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that determine the economic performance of  the states of Mexico. These factors are related to inventive production,  human capital and industrial capital. The analysis period includes between  1997 and 2016 from a regional perspective, in order to illustrate the existence  of a positive spatial effect, that is, the existence of a complementarity  between the states. Among the findings, there is a positive and significant  effect of education, inventive capacity and industrial capital on the economic  performance of the national territory. Likewise, the neighborhood between  the states have a positive and significant impact on the performance of the  Mexican economy.
